Avocet Lagoon Viewing Platform Update

By Jim Meyer, ALVP Project Lead

Some good progress has been made on our Project, with the final drawing update being completed and accepted by the Port Authority. The Building Permit has now been approved as of April 17. The Agreement between SCAS and the Port Authority is in work and is expected to be completed soon. This will allow FPL to install the poles which they have provided. Our building Contractor has updated the Bill of Materials and 84 Lumber has given us an updated estimate.

The Pepper Busting Party was completed on Sunday, April 19, and a special thanks to Jason Frederick, Ken Collins, Susan Bird and Carol Smack, my Sister, for working so hard on removing many, many Pepper trees. The effort took over five hours and the Port Authority had 3 folks who volunteered also and worked very hard.

We will be meeting at the Site on May 1 to select the location of the Viewing Platform and we hope to have it constructed by middle June.
