Board Member Biographies
Tom Dunkerton
- Position on the board? The guy with his finger in the hole of the dam. Nah, not really, just a board member. ;-)
- Length of Time? almost a year
- Length w/ audubon? 4 yrs give or take
- Why I joined? Can't complain if you're not trying to be part of the solutions.
- Best Life Bird: Long-tailed Manakin
- Interesting fact: 80% of rattlesnake bites involve the abuse of alcohol. Oh! Interesting Fact about ME: While I haven't picked up a pencil in years, the first half of my life I spent a great deal of time drawing and painting: nudes, still lifes, landscapes.
Madeline Klinko
- Position on Board: Secretary
- Length of time on board: One year
- Length of time with Audubon: Three years
- Why I joined the board: To learn about our LOCAL conservation issues and to support those who are doing the work
- Best life bird: Common Nighthawk – a few years ago, on a JUNE morning, at MINWR (Black Point), a few males were performing diving displays, a long dive straight down - their wings make an unusual sound when they pull out of the dive
- Interesting Fact: Every year, my husband Steve and I attend a few classical music concerts by the Bach Festival Society in Winter Park. On the way home we stop at the St. John’s River boat ramp (SR 50) and listen for toads/frogs and birds.
Sarah Linney
- Position on Board: Currently Treasurer
- Length of time on board: Since about 2000/2001
- Length of time with Audubon: Since mid-late 1990s
- Why I joined the board: You can thank Brad Martin for getting me involved with the board.
- Best life bird: Every life bird is a good bird. Hard to pick the "best" one...Resplendent Quetzal? Military Macaws flying across a valley? First id'ing a Carolina Chickadee or Tufted Titmouse at the feeder? Is it the one you find by yourself or the one you get to share with others? The one you chase or the one in your own backyard? Maybe a combination of all of the above? Finding a life bird for Carroll Holland, and myself, was certainly a momentous occasion (Elegant Quail).
- Interesting Fact: I used to play guitar and I sang in both the College and Community Choirs while in college, soprano.
Kathy Frederick
