Communication Made Easy

By Jason Frederick, President SCAS

Ever want to have the inside info on a rare bird being seen in our county? Ever need to know a great place to go to see a specific bird species and can't wait till the general meeting to ask somebody? Ever see a bird and need some help to identify it? You can get the answers to these questions and many more by joining our email list serve group. Email what? It is an easy way to ask questions and get answers as well as being kept informed about important matters effecting wildlife and the habitats.

Yahoo has a service that is called a list serve that allows members to send one email to every member of the group all at once. At the moment, we have 280 members and rather than entering each and every one of their email addresses into each email, you send one email to the list serve and everyone receives the email. It saves time and relieves the stress of remembering everyone's email addresses.

When a person sees a rare bird, they can announce it to everyone. When a person sees a bird they need to identify, they can list a description of the bird and others can assist in the identification. You can get more info on up coming field trips and meetings from the list as well. Basically, it makes communicating with others quick and easy and best part is it is free.

So how do you join the email group? Go to http://spacecoastaudubon.org/email_list.html and enter your email address and click on the bird icon next to the box.
