Florida Wildflower Foundation Names Lisa Roberts as Executive Director

From the Florida Wildflower Foundation

The Florida Wildflower Foundation has named Lisa Roberts of Maitland as the organization's executive director to lead its promotion of wildflower research, education and highway beautification. Roberts owns 321 Communications Group LLC in Maitland, a communications and publications company. Before establishing the business, she was a writer and editor at the Orlando Sentinel for more than 30 years.

"I'm excited about helping the foundation achieve its vision of the future," Roberts said. "With the growing emphasis on striking a balance with the natural world around us, more Floridians are discovering wildflowers and native plants -- as much for their beauty as for their vital roles in the state's delicate ecosystems. I'm finding that a growing number of people are eager to replace some of what has been lost to development."

The Florida Wildflower Foundation represents 10 state agencies and organizations that developed a wildflower specialty license plate, the proceeds from which are used to advance Florida wildflower research, education and highway beautification. Since 2003, the Foundation has awarded more than $1.3 million in grants to projects that promote those goals.
