New Members Welcome

By Kathy Frederick

I'd like to express a warm welcome to all of our new members. We are very pleased to have you as part of our chapter! We have many exciting projects in the works as well as bird watching field trips and meetings for you to attend. A couple of the projects we have in the works are:

  • Lookout Tower for the Avocet Lagoon in Port Canaveral: Jim Meyer and Jason Frederick, our co-vice presidents have been working very hard at raising money as well as coordinating supplies and construction of the tower that will be erected over Avocet Lagoon in Port Canaveral. To date, $5500 has been raised of the $10,000 that will be needed to construct this awesome tower.

  • Owl Boxes: We have donated 18 owl boxes to the Lake Apopka Restoration Area. This project was made possible courtesy of a generous donation from one of our members, Gail Jackson. See our web site for complete details (http://homepage.mac.com/deefairbanks/owl-box2/owl-box2.html)

  • Recycling 4 Cash: Please see the article regarding our partnership with Advantage Cartridge for an easy way to raise funds for our chapter.

  • Field Trips & General Meetings: Please visit page (can you fill in number?) of the Limpkin for field trip and meeting dates this month. Please join us on one of our field trips, they are a lot of fun and are perfect for beginner or expert birders. Also a good way to make new friends with similar interests!

  • Earth Day at Enchanted Forest: Please join us at the Enchanted Forest in Titusville to celebrate Earth Day! Please feel free to contact any board member for details if you do not have access to the internet.

Again, welcome to the chapter! We look forward to seeing you at one of our activities!
