Jim Stahl to Speak at February Meeting
Please join us on February 16 when we we welcome Jim Stahl, who will speak on The Nature of Florida.
Florida has a tremendous diversity of fauna and flora. One reason for this is the variety of habitats in the state from marine and freshwater aquatic systems to deciduous and tropical forests to prairies and scrub - 24 distinct habitats by one author. Also numerous plants and animals have been brought into Florida by us - some deliberately and some accidentally - many of which are now naturalized into our native species. In this illustrated slide talk we will look at some of these habitats and the amazing array of mammals, birds, reptiles, spiders, butterflies, trees, shrubs, wildflowers, ferns, and other groups found in our state. Some are rare, some are common, some are large, others small but all are unique and interesting.
Jim Stahl is a retired biologist, educator from central Ohio, who now resides in Titusville with his wife Kay. He is a very active volunteer for the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge and a board member of the Space Coast Audubon Society. The program will be February 16th at 7:30 pm at the Rockledge Presbyterian Church in Rockledge. |
