Kayak Trip Planned for February
By Sarah Linney
At the Audubon Assembly back in October, I won a Kayak Tour of the Thousand Islands, Indian River Lagoon at the silent auction and am pleased to have the opportunity to share it with you at the same $10 off discounted rate I am getting. Read on for more details
Fellow Audubon member and kayak nature guide, Jim Durocher, would like to invite the members to a tour of the Thousand Islands area of Cocoa Beach on Saturday, February 10 at 10am. This easy, fun, and relaxed paddle will feature migratory as well as resident wading and shore birds, all three species of mangove trees, sea grass beds with abundant sea life, and possibly dolphins. Manatees are rarely seen here in the winter months but you never know. The Indian River Lagoon system with over 4,000 species of plants and animals is the most diverse estuary in North America and it is right at our backyard. Come see it from a new perspective. All members will receive the discounted rate of $20 which will include kayak, life vest, paddle, sunscreen, water, instructions and briefing, and a 2+ hour paddle. We will be launching at the pavillion by the Cocoa Beach golf course-pool-tennis courts, so we may plan on a picnic lunch afterwards. Hope to see you there! Sarah
