SCAS General Meeting Guest speaker:
Wildlife Care Center of Florida

By Jason Frederick

You are invited to our November General Meeting on November 17, 2006 at 7:30 p.m. in Calvin Hall at the Rockledge Presbyterian Church, 921 Rockledge Drive, Rockledge, FL. Our special guest speaker will be Jennifer and Paul Syplen from the Wildlife Care Center of Florida. They will bring some of their patients to the meeting and will be accepting donations and supplies.

By responding to an add in the newspaper for a baby raccoon, Jennifer and Paul began their wildlife rehab careers purely by accident. A local rehabilitator saw the concern and caring in Jennifer when she brought the raccoon in for medical attention and took her on and trained her to be a wildlife rehabilitator. The Wildlife Care Center of Florida accepts native Floridian wildlife 24 hours a day every day. They are the only center North of Rockledge and the loss of their services would leave us with only one center in all of Brevard. As you may have read in a previous article, the Wildlife Care Center of Florida is a non-profit rehabilitator and as an upstart facility they do not have the financial support of other centers as of yet.

For more information on The Wildlife Care Center of Florida, you can contact them at 321-639-8655 or at the center in Canaveral Groves. The address is 4960 Palm Ave. Cocoa, Fl 32926.
