Letter From SCAS Board

Dear Friends,

Because you are a valued member of the Space Coast Audubon Society, we wanted to tell you about a way that you can help with one of our projects that we are working on with the Army Corps of Engineers and Port Canaveral. We are building a viewing platform that will overlook the Avocet Lagoon from the Army Corps of Engineer's property near the locks of Port Canaveral. This viewing platform will not only provide a great view of the lagoon, but will also give us more information on the numbers of birds that use the lagoon for nesting and roosting. Several species of egrets and herons, along with wood storks and on occasion roseate spoonbills, call the lagoon home.

Like other projects that you may be familiar with, we are offering recognition of donors on plaques that will be displayed at the viewing platform. There will be specific levels of recognition for a specified donation level (e.g. Snowy Egret Level $100, Great Blue Heron $500). A plaque to recognize volunteers that help in the assembly of the platform and trail will also be displayed.

We are looking for cash donations as well as volunteers to help assemble the viewing platform and to establish a trail to the platform. If you are able to contribute time or money to this project, please contact our either of our Co-vice Presidents Jim Meyer or Jason Frederick.

Thank you for your time and we are very grateful for your support of this and every project we work on for the Space Coast Audubon Society, education of our Brevard County students, and for wildlife in Brevard County.

Sincerely,

The Space Coast Audubon Society Board of Directors
