"Craniac" to Speak at October SCAS Meeting
By Jason Frederick
Please join us at the Rockledge Presbyterian Church on the evening of October 20, at 7:30 p.m. as we welcome guest speaker Marty Folk, Wildlife Biologist for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
Marty has been with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission since 1991, overseeing a team of biologists who work daily with Whooping Cranes. His responsibilities are varied; he gets to do everything from collecting fecal samples to representing the project at the International Recovery Team meetings.
Marty is a member of the Whooping Crane Recovery Team, Project Direction Team for the Whooping Crante Eastern Partnership, and the editor of the newsletter of the Whooping Crane Conservation Association. He has a degree in cranes and has worked with them for 15 years. All the work he has done with cranes has earned Marty the title of "Craniac!"
