Wildlife Care Center of Florida Needs Your Help

By Jason Frederick

Jennifer and Paul Sypien run the Wildlife Care Center of Florida, a non-profit wildlife rescue and rehab facility. They run it out of their own home in Canaveral Groves. They are not as big and do not have the staff or support that our other wildlife hospital has. They are two people, much like you, that have an incredible love for our wildlife. They do their best to rehab, and release back in to the wild, animals that are injured and in need of medical attention.

Jennifer works day and night at their home, nursing their patients back to health. I have taken several animals to her, and each time she takes them into her care, I can see the love and concern for her new patients and I get the feeling that things will be just fine for each animal.

Paul Sypien works for Animal Control during the day, and helps Jennifer at night at home taking care of the animals and receiving patients till sometimes after midnight. Paul also does landscaping and lawn service on the side to help make ends meet. They are just two people trying to help protect, rehab, and release back into nature those that have come to them.

I called Jennifer on in hopes that she would be able to give a presentation at one of our up coming meetings. Right away she gratefully accepted and thanked me for the opportunity to tell their story. After, she told me how someone had robbed them of Paul's equipment that he uses for his landscaping and lawn service. My heart dropped and I knew I had to do something.

At our general meeting on September 15, 2006 we will be having a supply fund raiser. When you are out shopping, please be kind enough to pick up some supplies for them. Household items such as unscented bleach, paper towels, dish soap, antibacterial hand soap, towels, shop
rags, trash bags and any other supplies you think might help them out; these are just a few of the things they need. They always need bird seed. You can also pick up gift cards for Publix or other stores, or if you are not sure what they might need, call 321-639-8655 and ask them for a wish list. You can also volunteer your time. Please help to show them that we care, that we appreciate the work that they do and that we still have the kindness to help a neighbor in need of our help.

Thank you for your time and thanks for helping turn a dark cloud into a rainbow.
