South Brevard CBC

Roy Book

The results of the South Brevard Christmas Bird Count are very encouraging! Thanks to the 50 folks that came out on New Year's Day, we ended up with 160 species and some very tired birders. Some of the highlights included a Canada Goose, Black-bellied Whistling Ducks, Lesser Black-backed Gulls, Rusty blackbird, Purple Gallinule, Broad-winged Hawks, Marbled Godwits, American Redstart, and Tennessee and Blackpoll Warblers.

While the date of this count was not ideal, the weather was. I can't control the weather but the date for the next South Brevard CBC looks to be Saturday, 30 December, 2006. Please mark your calendars now. By the way, my records show that the next CBC will be our 40th year! Maybe we can do something special.

Thanks again to all who have participated this year and over the past years.
