SCAS Welcomes Spence Guerin to our December 10 General Meeting

SCAS is please to welcome local landscape painter, Spence Guerin to our December 10 general meeting (note that this is the second Friday of December, not the third.) Spence will be showing a large reproduction of his “Herndon Swamp” painting (similar to the one which was auctioned off by SCAC last year) and will talk about the process of making this major painting. Additionally, he will show a few slides of his home environment, relating to “beauty is in the eye of the beholder.”

Spence Guerin lives in his hometown, Melbourne, Florida. He was a full time resident of Alaska for fourteen years, 1974 through 1989, and continues to maintain a studio there. He works in painting, drawing and printmaking media, mostly landscape, some figurative, including portraits. Spence has received Artist Fellowship Grants from the Alaska State Arts Council (1983) and from the National Endowment for the Arts (1980), and Academy Award in Art from the American Academy of Arts and Letters in New York City (2004)..
