Greetings From Your President Elect!

By Sarah Linney

Hello from Sarah Linney, your newly elected chapter president. Although my term will not officially begin until June, I would like to take this opportunity to ask for input from you, our chapter members. Your board will be busy over the summer months coordinating speakers, projects, field trips, and other events for the upcoming year. It would certainly make our job easier if we did not have to think of everything ourselves and wonder if everyone else will like it as well. I am asking if you would be so kind as to think for a moment and give us some feedback, including but not limited to these things:

What topic(s) would you like to learn/hear more about (as in a speaker or article in the Limpkin)? One recent suggestion was a how-to session on bird boxes, is there any interest in this?

Is there anyone in particular you would like to have speak?

Where would you like to go on a field trip? Would you be willing to be a co-leader/guide there?

What chapter projects would you like to do, such as, locating heron/egret rookeries in the county and monitoring them, volunteer work days, etc.)

Is there anything you have heard about another chapter or group doing that you would like us to consider? Or perhaps a collaborative effort?

Do you have a talent, hobby, birding trip, tricks and secrets to identifying birds, and/or anything else you would like to share with other members? Would you feel comfortable doing so?

I will have cards and a suggestion bag at the pot luck dinner for you to drop some ideas into, or you could send an e-mail message to smljay@aol.com, or call me at (321) 638-4599 (please not after 9:00 p.m.). I am sure any of the other officers and board members listed in the Limpkin would be willing to hear from you as well. It would be fantastic if we could get these by the end of June. There will be other opportunities for input, but this is the most crucial time.

Thank you so much for your thoughts and participation! See you at the pot luck dinner on May 21. I hope everyone has a great summer!
