FNPS May Meeting

The Searocket Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society will host Landscape Architect Kathleen Burson, ASLA, at the Brevard County Agriculture Center, 3605 Lake Drive, Cocoa at 7:00 p.m., May 26. The Society wishes to extend an invitation to the general public.

Ms. Burson will focus her talk on a new development proposal, The Rural Overlay District and Natural Landscape. ROD proposes land development under a set of “incentive-based” guidelines. She hopes this citizen led initiative will be accepted by the City of Titusville prior to annexations of environmentally significant lands bordering the St. John’s River and that it may become a model for other Brevard communities with similar growth issues.

The presentation will include how residential landscapes can positively affect Conservation Lands. Plant suggestions will be given for native yards. Native Plants and books available. Call 459-3606 for additional information.
