Save The Whoopers Program in February

By Dee Fairbanks

Indian River Audubon is pleased to welcome Jack and Pat Casselberry to our February 20 meeting. They will be presenting a program on saving the whooping cranes. Their program, “Saving the Whoopers” won the Audubon of Florida education award for 2002.

Pat and Jack are President and VP of the Citrus County Audubon Society, and are very actively involved in environmental issues throughout Citrus County. Their chapter has taken an active role in helping each year with the Whooping Crane Eastern Partnership (WCEP) migrations. For the past two years, Pat has had the honor of emceeing the flyover event. Jack and Pat also do outreach programs on behalf of the Chassahowitzka National Wildlife Refuge, where the cranes winter each year.

I had the pleasure of seeing their Saving the Whoopers program at the Audubon Assembly last year, which is why I asked them to come speak to our chapter. I highly encourage you to come to this exciting and fun filled event, as I already know how special it will be!
