Snakes Invade March
IRAS General Meeting!
By Dee Fairbanks
Over 70 people and four critters (two snakes, a baby alligator,
and an African Grey Parrot) attended our March meeting.
Chris Delory, head of the Brevard Zoo educational
programs, presented a fascinating talk about the zoo and it’s
inhabitants. He spoke at length about how the zoo was built
by volunteers, and is now being expanded by volunteers.
Chris also described an upcoming fund raiser, which will
occur on April 11. As described on the zoo web site, this
event, called Safari Under the Stars, will be “an elegant
evening celebrating Africa and will include a cocktail and
dinner party celebrating the new African habitat, “Expedition
Africa,” which is set to open this summer. With catering
provided by The Phoenix Restaurant, sneak peeks at
the new African habitat, fabulous themed entertainment
provided by the West African group WassaLou that performs
at Disney, and a live and silent auction; the event is a
safe bet for a fabulous night on the wild side!
Tickets are $125 per person or $100 per person
for Brevard Zoo members. Tables are $1,000. Call
(321) 254-9453, ext. 10 to order your tickets today for one
of the hottest events in Brevard!
To volunteer for the event committee, become
a sponsor or buy a table, contact the zoo at
(321) 254-9453 ext. 31, or for general information, call
