Space Coast Birding Contest Results

The following are the results of the Space Coast Festival birding contest. The judges of the contest were John Bacilli, Wes Biggs, Dave Goodwin and Lee Snyder from St. Pete, and Carroll Holland. Prizes included meals at Dixie Crossroads, pins, wildlife prints, kayak trips, a trip to the Everglades, plaques, binoculars, and spotting scopes.

12 and Under

  • Second Place: 4H Clovers
  • First Place, with 74 species, the Kingfishers

13–18

  • Raptors, with 89 species

Beginning Adults

  • Old Coots with 64 birds

Intermediate Adults

  • Halifax Harriers with 120 species

Advanced Adults

  • Third place: The Environmental Partners from Huston, with 129 birds
  • Second Place: Lucky Shrikes, 143 birds
  • First Place: The Canadians, with 150 birds

The final award, the Duck Award, was awarded to Julie Seberry for driving six kids around for the contest!
