Fund Raisers

May I take a moment to call your attention to fund raisers in general, and Spaghetti dinners in particular. I know! I know! Every organization you ever heard of is in need of money. The Indian River Audubon Society (IRAS) is no exception. However, we are different in that we only have one fund raiser for the whole year!

Our educational program, which is distributing bird books to all the elementary schools in Brevard County is going forward as planned. We have already laid out the cash to purchase the books the cost of which amounted to just over $1,300. Our only hope to break even on this enterprise is to call for your support of our one and only fund raiser. That is the Spaghetti Dinner, at Mister Beaujeans Restaurant, Sunday, February 23, 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $12.

Your Board of Directors established the price hoping that it was not too high or too low. People have approached me to comment on both sides. Some say, “Why so low?” and others say, “That is a lot for spaghetti!” Well, fellow Auduboners, it is a fund raiser and our only one this year!

I ask for your support. Please buy your own tickets (we would like you to come, but if you cannot, please, buy a ticket anyway!) Help IRAS sell tickets to your friends, neighbors, relatives and anyone who believes in the Audubon cause. Workers are needed the day of the event and we need cooks to prepare and donate desserts for the event. Signup sheets will be at the January meeting. The success of any fund raiser is measured by the number of persons who are involved. How about you?
