Potluck Dinner
By
Tom Atkinson
The September Potluck meeting was a rousing success.
There were 64 people in attendance. We had enough food to serve
a small army. Chicken seemed to be the most popular dish this year.
Last year, if I recall correctly, it seemed to be beans. I took
particular notice of the dessert table upon which there were at
least five items containing chocolate.
Following the meal we were both entertained and instructed with
two sets of bird slides from the local area presented respectively
by Jeff Stewart and
Brad Martin. Both of these gentlemen were roundly applauded and
I extended deep appreciation to them on behalf of the Chapter.
To those people who helped in the kitchen and to set up and restore
the meeting room to the way we found it (stacking chairs, wiping
off and folding tables, and so forth), I extend thanks.
The potluck is a great way to get our program year started. It
was wonderful to see all our old friends and to greet some new faces.
The membership committee has reinstituted the name badge program
for our meetings. We hope that name badges will make new comers
and people who attend only infrequently feel more welcome.
