AiA Native Plant Garden – Ground Breaking and Planting Day

November 4, 2018 @ 4:00 am - 6:30 am

Space Coast Audubon has been awarded an Audubon in Actin (AiA) grant to fund the creation of a native plant for birds garden. Hundred Acre Hollows will be the host location for the garden.

0900 – 0910 Welcome and overview of the AiA Grant Project
0910 – 1120 Breaking ground and planting of Phase 1 native plants
1120 – 1130 Wrap up, giveaways and raffle

This event will be the official ground breaking for the garden and the first community planting day. This is a hands-on, dig in the dirt, work day. Please wear clothes that can get dirty. Long socks and/or long pants are recommended along with closed toed shoes. The paths are natural and not manicured so there may be ants or sticky plants. We appreciate any participants who can bring gardening gloves, shovels, and digging tools to be used during the planting. In addition to planting, other tasks include carrying water to the garden, gathering brush from the area and carrying paving stones. Participants are welcome to hike the property and tour the rest of the Hollows after the work day is finished.

** Important Notes – please read** There are no restroom facilities onsite. Walking is on uneven surfaces and the distance to the garden is about .5 miles. Parking is on residential streets near the main gate or south entrance. The South gate is the closest to the garden and can be accessed by residential street parking near: 768 Ashbury Ave, Melbourne, FL. It’s at the intersection of Ashbury Ave and Foxridge Pl.**
